Many applications that perform time series analysis (including calculations involving market data) also demand the fastest possible performance. Database systems can greatly accelerate such processing via columnar data handling. This video examines such an approach using McObject’s eXtremeDB Financial Edition DBMS, and introduces the powerful technique of pipelining vector-based statistical function over sequences (columns) of data. The code example in this video – shown on the opening screen, and in detail beginning at 1:08 – demonstrates complex analysis achieved by incorporating these vector-based functions as arguments to a single SQL ‘select’ statement.
